Does God exist??
Remember the old question “Which came first, the chicken or the egg”? If you say the egg came first someone will say we all know that eggs come from chickens and if you say the chicken someone else will say we all know that chickens come from eggs. Many might say that this question cannot be answered. So what is the answer to this seemingly unsolvable dilemma?
Gen 1:20 And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven.
Gen 1:21 And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good.
Gen 1:22 And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth.
Gen 1:23 And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
So, the answer to our question “Which came first, the chicken or the egg?” is that the chicken came first. Then the first chickens had the first eggs and so that process continues to this day.
You see, without God in the picture, there is no answer to any of creation because everything has to come from something. Only God can take nothing and make something. In the New Testament book of Romans chapter 1 verse 20 the Apostle Paul wrote “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
There was a humorous story told that went something like this; Mankind came to God one day and said “We don’t need you anymore God. We can create everything we need by ourselves. We can even create life now.” So God said “Ok, show me.” Then mankind said “Well, first we take some dirt . . .” and God interrupted them and said “Hold on there. You have to get your own dirt, you can’t use mine.” Right. And that’s the problem with any explanation of where things came from if you leave God out of the picture. Try to trace it back to its beginning and you come to the same problem. Only God can make something from nothing.
That’s why the bible starts with the phrase “In the beginning God . . .”. God has always existed and has created everything we know of or ever will know of. Awesome!!
